7 Realistic Ways to Earn $1,000 in the Next 30 Days

Would an extra one thousand dollars a month help you and your family?

A few years ago an additional one thousand dollars a month sounded like it was in a galaxy far, far away.

There was no way I thought I could make that much extra money a month with a full-time job, a few kids, and a wife.

However, I needed the extra money because we were deep in debt. Like $30,000+ in debt.

My strategy was to feel sorry for myself and hope something good would eventually happen; which is a great plan if you are insane because that is the exact definition of insanity.

Insanity: Do the same exact thing and expect different results.

After I finally I had enough, I started to try new things to earn extra money.

And guess what?

I started earning extra money. More than one thousand dollars a month!

First, I started making more money because I changed careers.

Then I developed and sold an app business for $20K in six months, but I didn’t know how to code.

After that, I started earning money by selling on Amazon. In the first eight months selling on Amazon, I made over $20,000.

What I learned is most of us have the time to earn extra money, but we are bad at starting.

I know the internet is in love with headlines about making $100,000 a month from blogs. But that is unrealistic for most people.

However, I believe earning an extra one thousand dollars or more a month is possible for anyone and $12,000 a year is life changing for many parents.

Instead of focusing on the million dollar blogs or business ideas, I suggest you learn how to make $1,000 on your own first.

Earning real money first is important because you’ll gain momentum. Once you make your first one thousand dollars, then you’ll want to earn more.

Again…it’s all about starting.

That is why I am going to share with you seven realistic ways to earn one thousand dollars in the next 30 days.

7 Realistic Ways to Earn $1,000 in the Next 30 Days

1) Selling on Amazon/Ebay

Obviously, this is my favorite because this is the side hustle that helped wipe out our debt and build a savings account.

The strategy I use to sell on Amazon is retail arbitrage. This strategy is the practice of buying items at a low price in retail stores and selling them much higher on Amazon or Ebay.

Most people think I guess what products to sell, but it is much more scientific. I use the Amazon Seller App or Scoutify App to determine what items to sell.

Then I send those items to Amazon. Amazon does the rest: sells the products, ships them, and collects payments.

The best month I ever had selling on Amazon was December 2015 when I made a little over $11,000. You can see the results from my accounting software.

Although I have backed off recently from selling on Amazon, I still think it is an excellent way to earn an extra one thousand dollars or more a month.

You can also make money using Ebay, but it is much more work.

2) Facebook Wifi Set Up

If I had extra time, this is a great side hustle if you know how to set up wifi networks.

Facebook Wifi is for small businesses who offer free wifi to their customers. Think local restaurants, coffee shops, salons, chiropractors, dentists, etc.

It is a free service for business owners, but for customers to get access to the businesses’ free wifi; they must check in at the place of business through Facebook!

Once the customers check in, then it is free advertising for that business. There are potentially 100–1,000 Facebook friends who see their check-in.

Although the service is free, you do a need an approved Facebook router. You can learn about the details here.

Personally, I would charge $250-$300 per install plus the cost of the router.

The business owners could probably do this themselves, but you have the knowledge.

3) Loan Signing Agent

This job is a new side hustle I’m testing out.

Have you ever gotten a mortgage?

Then you know you have to schedule an appointment to sign the loan documents.

Did you know the person doing the signing earns anywhere from $75-$200 per signing?

Crazy, right?

There are a couple of steps to this process.

First, you have to get your notary.

Then you need to understand how to sign a loan.

Finally, you have to know how to get signings.

Personally, I just took Mark Wills course Loan Signing System (affiliate link), and it was great. He walks you through everything you need to know about loan signings and how to get them.

If you did ten signings a month, you would easily be earning over $1,000!

4) Make Balloon Creatures

Have you ever been to a restaurant or party with a person who creates balloon creatures?

You may not have been too impressed with the dinosaur balloon animal that popped and caused your three-year-old to throw a fit, but that skill pays about $150 per hour plus tips!

I’ve never created a balloon animal, but you can learn for less than $20. After a quick Amazon search, I found this (affiliate link)DVD on how to make balloon animals.

To start this business, I would create fliers and drop them off at local day care centers. Do free balloon twisting at local school events and have brochures available.

You’ll start getting customers.

There isn’t much competition. If you book 7 hours of balloon parties a month, you can earn over $1,000!

5) Virtual Assistant

Do you know how to schedule appointments? Type memos? Respond to emails?

Then you may be the perfect virtual assistant!

A virtual assistant usually works for an entrepreneur or business owner to assist with their day-to-day tasks from their home.

You may be scheduling appointments. Sending out cards. Proofreading emails. Researching. Reminding your boss about events.

The pay for a virtual assistant varies between $15 an hour all the way up to $75+.

If you have a particular skill like understanding how to code for WordPress, copywriting, or marketing, then you can charge much more.

The best part of a virtual assistant is you can set your hours.

A simple way to start is to sign up with a service like VirtualAssitants.com or Upwork.com. You’ll make less with these services because they are taking a cut.

Once you have some experience, you can create your website and market your services.

6) Social Media Manager

Do you love Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter? Can’t get enough of Snapchat?

Then you need to use your passion for social media to earn some money!

Businesses want to be involved with social media because they know it’s important. However, they usually don’t have the time to create epic posts.

That’s where you come in to save the day.

Learn how to get engagement on Facebook with Facebook Live, groups, business pages, and interacting with customers. You probably want to study how to utilize Facebook ads too.

Understand how to create beautiful Instagram photos to promote businesses and the appropriate hashtags.

Create stunning pins for Pinterest to drive traffic back to websites.

Get a handle on Snapchat and connect with the younger generation.

If you can add value as a social media manager, you can charge $250-$500 a month! Sign three or four customers, and you will be on your way to some extra money!

Pro Tip: Combine the Facebook Wifi with a social media manager, and you’ll knock it out of the park.

7. Teach a Local Class

People want to learn, but not always from a computer.

The problem, for most people, when it comes to teaching is they don’t think they are “expert” enough. This belief is just a mindset.

Have you seen the movie Catch Me if You Can? It’s a story of a famous con artist, Frank Abagnale. He successfully posed as a pilot, pediatrician, attorney, and other careers.

In the books, he teaches a sociology class at Brigham Young University. He taught for the entire semester, and no one realized he was not a real teacher.

After Frank was eventually caught the authorities asked him how he was able to teach that class because didn’t know anything about sociology.

He said, “All I had to do was read one chapter ahead of the students.”

See, you don’t have to be the most knowledgeable person in the world about the topic. You just need to be a little bit ahead of the people you are teaching.

Here are 10-course ideas I have thought about teaching that would generate one thousand dollars per month:

  • Facebook ads for small businesses ($200/person)
  • Adulting for recent college graduates ($250/person for three weeks of class)
  • Personal finance class for parents ($150/couple)
  • Social media management for small business ($200/person)
  • Marketing for restaurant owners ($200/person)
  • Effective email marketing for small businesses ($100/person)
  • Basics of the Slow Carb Diet ($50/person)
  • How small business owners can use WordPress ($150/person)
  • The best way to find your perfect job ($75/person)
  • Meditation ($30/person)

There are many more ways to earn one thousand dollars per month, but these are some the best I know how!

If you want or need to start earning more money, start with one of these ideas.

The only thing holding you back is not starting!
